Corey Pronman asked if I would break down the PDO (into Sh% and SV%) I was working with in this post, where I suggested that Special Teams % (PP Time / PP Time + PK Time) seemed to have zero effect when you go from even-strength to all-situations PDO. As you can see above, it ticks the sensor slightly on SV%, but does nothing with aiding shooting percentage. There’s just too much variation and pulling to average (among these 300 season performances) for this to have demonstrable effect. As I mentioned to Corey, per this graph,  there’s such a flat distribution of Special Teams % in the last 10 years that there is, literally, no team that didn’t have their Sh% boosted by special teams time and SV% lowered in those same minutes.
